A Supplier Group serves as an aggregation of suppliers who share common characteristics or attributes. It is a means of categorizing suppliers based on similarities in the goods or services they provide. Unlike contractors or subcontractors, who often contribute specialized input to deliverables, suppliers, also known as vendors, offer general products or services. RERP allows users to create customized categories for suppliers, referred to as Supplier Groups, facilitating better organization and management.
Accessing Supplier Group To access Supplier Groups, navigate to: > Home > Procurement > Supplier > Supplier Group
Prerequisites
Before creating and utilizing a Supplier Group, it is recommended to complete the following:
- Supplier setup
How to Create a Supplier Group Follow these steps to create a Supplier Group:
- Go to the Supplier Group list and click on New.
- Provide a name for the new Supplier Category.
- Optionally, set a Parent Supplier Group for further categorization.
- Checking the "Is Group" checkbox designates it as a Parent Supplier Group.
- Optionally assign a default Payment Terms Template to the Supplier Group, beneficial when specific payment terms apply to all suppliers in this category.
- Save the entry.
Supplier Classification Suppliers can be classified into different types, such as Distributor, Electrical, Hardware, Local, Pharmaceutical, Raw Material, Services, etc. This classification aids in streamlined accounting and payment processes.
Supplier Group Tree Construct Supplier Groups in the form of a tree hierarchy, similar to the Chart of Accounts.
- To view the Tree structure, click on Tree from the sidebar.
- To return to the list view, select: Menu > View List.
The introduction of User Permissions enables hierarchy-based permissions. If a user has permission to view a parent node of a Supplier Group, they automatically gain access to view its child nodes. For example, if a user is permitted to view the 'Distributor' document, they will also have access to view its child nodes, such as 'Book Distributor,' 'Electronic Distributor,' etc.
