Manufacturing Basics

RERP provides comprehensive features to meet the diverse needs of manufacturing businesses, including warehouse management, workstation configurations, operations tracking, finished goods handling, raw material management, Bill of Materials (BOM) tracking, work order planning, procurement, and more.

  1. Master Data The Manufacturing module allows you to manage crucial master data, including:
  2. Warehouse: Locations for storing raw materials and finished goods.
  3. Workstation/Machine: Configurable workstations or machines for manufacturing operations.
  4. Operation: Detailed processes involved in manufacturing.
  5. Raw Material/Finished Good: Management of raw materials and finished goods.
  6. Routing: Defined paths for operations based on the Bill of Materials.
  7. Transaction Data The Manufacturing module facilitates the management of transactional data, including:
  8. Bill of Materials (BOMs): Multilevel BOMs for items, aiding in product costing, production planning, and material requirements planning (MRP).
  9. Work Order: Planning and execution of manufacturing tasks on the shop floor.
  10. Job Card: Detailed instructions for workers during the production process.
  11. Production Plan: Strategic planning of production schedules.
  12. Types of Production Planning There are three primary types of production planning systems:
  13. Make to Stock: Production is based on forecasts, with items sold to distributors or customers. Examples include fast-moving consumer goods and electronics.
  14. Make to Order: Items are manufactured upon customer orders, customized to meet specific requirements. Examples include customized cakes for events.
  15. Engineer to Order: Each sale is a unique project, requiring design and engineering to meet customer specifications. Examples include custom furniture, machine tools, and specialty devices.
  16. RERP is well-suited for make-to-order and engineer-to-order systems, commonly found in small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses.
  17. For engineer-to-order systems, the Manufacturing module can be effectively utilized alongside the Project module.
  18. Manufacturing Impact on Inventory The status of work orders is directly influenced by stock transactions. Key inventory impacts in RERP include:
  19. Transferring raw materials from the store to the Work In Progress Warehouse.
  20. Consuming raw materials using Stock Entry.
  21. Options for bulk consumption of raw materials and subsequent addition of finished goods or sequential consumption before adding finished goods.
  22. Proper management of these inventory transactions ensures accurate tracking of materials throughout the manufacturing process.
